Lohum’s new center to advance research in critical minerals

Greater Noida, August 20, 2025:  UP based innovator LOHUM, India’s largest diversified producer of sustainable critical minerals and among the largest globally outside China, has launched its new Research & Innovation Center in Greater Noida. The new innovation center is strategically aligned with the Government of India’s National Critical Mineral Mission to advance research and innovation in a value chain vital for the country’s economy, energy security, and technological leadership. This marks a major step forward by Lohum to strengthen India’s critical minerals reserves, in light of the rare earth element supply crisis currently faced by Indian industry.

Driving Innovation in Critical Minerals

At the facility, Lohum’s scientists are conducting advanced research on 15 of the 27 critical minerals identified by the Government of India, including cobalt, nickel, lithium, graphite, aluminium, copper, and rare earth elements.

The center houses a range of specialized laboratories, including:

  • Rare Earth Elements Lab
  • Magnet Lab
  • Battery Lab
  • Cathode Active Material Lab
  • Membrane Lab
  • Coin Cell Lab
  • Carbon Lab
  • Nickel-Lithium-Cobalt Lab
  • Analytical Lab

With a 60,000 sq. ft. innovation hub, Lohum invests 5% of its annual revenue and 10% of its total workforce into R&D. Its team of 100+ dedicated scientists has been instrumental in expanding knowledge frontiers and delivering market-ready solutions for a circular economy of critical minerals.
